Gregoria de Jesus vda. de Bonifacio y Nakpil, born on 9 May 1875, died 15 March 1943, in the dark days of the Japanese Occupation at the age of 68.”

“Aside from the tumultuous life she led with the tragic hero of the Revolution, she also left a testament of her love for him in two poems, one written 31 August 1897 and the other on September of the same year, composed more than three months after his disappearance from her life.”
